Saturday, May 13, 2023 marked the 125th Commencement Ceremony of Newman Grove Public Schools. Eight young men and women made up the graduating class of 2023. The students were led in procession by the Junior Class Honor Escorts Trent Patzel and Austin Wiese to "Pomp and Circumstance." The class colors were light blue, royal blue, and silver, the class flower the white rose, and the class motto "Never memorize something you can look up." by Albert Einstein.
Superintendent Josh Warren provided a welcome address. Brooke Milam, the class President and Valedictorian, spoke about being the new student and not making friends with her classmates until later. They then built a friendship that will last a lifetime. Mrs. Theresa Kneifl, Counselor presented academic honors and scholarship awards to the graduates. Mara Ranslem gave her Valedictorian address thanking her classmates, faculty, staff coaches and community for teaching them that they can learn from their adversities and achievements. The senior slideshow was presented. The members of the class then made special presentation of flowers while the song "Never Grow Up" by Taylor Swift was played.
Principal Erin Forre then presented the class to the President of the Board of Education, Jeanie McCloud. After the students received their diplomas, they recessed from the gym. The class went outside to toss their hats and form a receiving line.
