Newman Grove Students Stock Market Game State Champions
Three Newman Grove Public School 7th grade students hold the title of state champions. Maci Pollard, Ronnie Fyfe, and Emmanuel Hernandez Reyes were recently named champions of the Stock Market Games' Middle School Division for the 2017-2018 school year. The team finished in first place in the fall competition. Teams have $100,000 to invest in stocks of their choosing. The Newman Grove trio turned their initial $100,000 into $108,250, outdistancing the next team by $192. The overall winner between the fall and spring competition earned the right to present their strategy at the Banquet of Champions.
The Newman Grove students traveled along with Superintendent Mikal Shalikow to the Champions Club next to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln to present their strategy and receive their 1st place trophy.
The Welcome was given by Dr. Nathan Kauffman, Assistant Vice President & Omaha Branch Executive Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City-Omaha Branch. The keynote speaker ws Lisa M. Smith, Senior Vice President, D. A. Davidson & Co.
The students participated in the Stock Market Game as a part of Mr. Rossow's Business 7 class.
